Lucifer (Morningstar)

A wax sculpture depicting the devil snared in a set of power lines built by Paul Fryer. The sculpture is illuminated by the church’s stained glass windows.

It can be seen at The Holy Trinity Church in Marylebone, Westminster.

Creepy fact for the day.

The Christian faith is built on pillars or commandments—one of which is thou shalt not worship false idols. Also, the Bible repeatedly talks about how lucifer is the great deceiver, a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Christmas is supposed to be about christ, yet it is as much about Santa and presents. Santa is Satan misspelled. Santa’s nickname is st. Nick. Another nickname for Satan is old st. Nick.

There are similar stories for every major Christian holiday.

Purposeful or not it’s a neat coincidence.

Amy Judd (b.1980, UK)

London based artist Amy Judd creates a collection of sensitive silent moments; some full of whimsical intrigue, others more surreal and seductive. Her paintings draw inspiration from the enchanting and imaginative relationship between women and birds found in traditional mythologies and folklores. The composition, light and positioning of the subject, creates curious images, which conjure up new “mythological” narratives or creatures within the paintings; using Feathers as armor, and birds as familiars. The sensitive brushwork on the figure’s flesh complements the delicate pattern of the feathers, however the compositions are bold and strong, and the figures are not frail or delicate; the feathers allude to strength, flight and bravery, rather than fragility.
